Question 1: How do I search for a barrier-free resource in my neighborhood? First, select your desired search category from the left side of our Navigation Page. Unlike a Yellow Pages or similar directory services, our Information Service is arranged intuitively by topic. All facilities within each "Resource Group" are broken down into a few general categories on individual search pages, so you can quickly find a BARRIER-FREE facility that will meet your needs without having to search through hundreds of categories as with most other directories. Here's how it works in our "Dining" Resource Group: Select your search radius from the pop-up menu in Step 1. The default search radius is "all locations within 5 miles." Then click your mouse pointer in the 'Zip Code' text box and type in your 5-digit Zip Code. If you don't know your Zip Code, you can type the name of your City and the two-letter abbreviation for your State in the appropriate text boxes. Optionally, in Step 2 you can restrict your search to only those facilities that offer certain services you might need by activating one or more 'Special Features' locator tags. For example, if you want to find a restaurant that offers low-sodium menu items and that will also accept your American Express card, choosing those two options will return ONLY those restaurants that meet those specific needs. Once you have entered your search criteria, click the 'Find It' button to locate exactly what you need. It's fast and easy. And if you have other questions, help is always accessible at the top of your screen. Different types of resources are searched differently. Instructions in each Resource Group section will guide you through the search process.
